Old Chicago - Wake Forest

Old Chicago
2108 S. Main St.
Wake Forest, NC 27587

Our First review is on ‘Old Chicago’, a pasta and pizza joint that also offers an array of beers. We have eaten there several times, and all agree the food is amazing, as is the service. If fact, if you go there, please ask for Summer. She was our waitress and one of the best waitresses we have ever hand. Now the details - The last time we went we ordered the chicken nuggets and fries meal with milk for our toddler. She enjoyed the food almost as much as she enjoyed the coasters (go figure). As I recall, her meal cost less than six dollars and we had free refills on the milk. My husband ordered the Steak and Shrimp dish which also came with a side of his choice. The steak itself was ordered rare and came out to perfection. The shrimp was gone in minutes, without any offers of ‘Would you like a piece?’, and the fries were perfectly crispy. As for myself, I ordered the Sausage Stromboli substituting the fries with a garden salad. To upgrade to a salad I had to pay an extra .80 cents, but it was worth it. The salad was crisp and very tasty. Normally I do not finish an entire meal, but this time I ate both the salad and the Stromboli, which was mouth wateringly delicious. Making the experience even better was getting seated immediately (we went at 5 PM on a Sunday), the turn around time from the time we ordered to the time it took to receive our food, the friendly and extremely clean atmosphere, and of course, as previously mentioned, the outstanding service. The overall price with two entrees, one kids meal, one sweet tea, and one beer was under just $35.00 which would make this a top choice for a small family. For those in a rush, they also offer take out.

Welcome Note

Welcome to Raleigh Restaurant Critics! The goal of this blog is to provide locals and visitors alike, with a guide to great family restaurants in Raleigh and its surrounding areas.

A rating system will be implemented for Price, Taste, Service, and Atmosphere. Price ratings will be based on the price for entrees and a fountain drink. Taste will obviously be based on how eatable the food is. Service will be centered on the quality of the service from start to finish. Atmosphere will encompass how clean the restaurant is as well as how inviting it appears. In addition, an overall thumbs up or thumbs down will be given based on the average of all categories with Taste and Services being the heavy weights. More detail on the rating system is provided below.

Please note that this site is in no way affiliated with or influenced by any restaurants and while we may be invited to a restaurant for review from time to time, it will not impact our opinion.

As you may have noticed, the word “We” is used vice the word “I”. This is because, whilst this blog is written by a working class wife and mother, it is not only one opinion but a collaboration of opinions gathered from myself, my husband, and my toddler (as many of us know, children are the pickiest and most honest of eaters) to better ensure an accurate rating. To further help in providing a fair rating, my family will visit a restaurant at least three times before including the restaurant in this blog, as we all have bad days, to include cooks and waiters.

Lastly, we would like to note that this is purely our opinion and with a vast variety of persons in this world with different taste buds, only you can be a true judge. With that in mind, we have permitted visitors to this blog to add their own comments and as visitor numbers increase, we will also implement a polling service allowing you, the viewer to rate restaurants and tell the world what is important to you (and your family).
